“Last year my wife, Jada, and I went to Hong Kong and Beijing. Hong Kong was beautiful. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, and the view from our suite was spectacular. You could see the entire city and the harbor and the lights at night. Ozone restaurant at the top of the hotel had delicious food. In Beijing we stayed at the Four Seasons, which was great. We got a chance to view some of the private residences, but the highlight was the Great Wall of China. It’s hard to believe that it was built so many years ago without the tools we have today.”
GET UP AGAINST THE WALL: The Badaling section northwest of Beijing is easiest to access, but the Mutianyu portion northeast of the city offers better views. Book a guided tour at a reasonable price through Viator.com, one of TripAdvisor’s Web sites; a seven hour excursion includes Mutianyu, a cloisonné factory, and lunch.
