At one of Heal the Bay’s previous Bring Back the Beach Galas, I walked in with Julia Roberts. We were both on the invite list, but it didn’t matter: they stopped both of us at the door of the uberexclusive Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. (Apparently we were going through a “Members Only” entrance.) Roberts did some sweet-talking (she was actually receiving an award that year from the org), and after a few minutes, the woman working the front door let us in on the QT. Roberts later thanked her onstage as she accepted a do-gooder award with her husband, Danny Moder.

Bring Back the Beach is a great outdoor beach party where the funds go towards an org that has been keeping Santa Monica Bay and other SoCal coastal waters and watersheds clean and healthy since 1985. Just today, Heal the Bay announced the June 9 fete: Chairwoman of the State Water Resources Control Board Felicia Marcus will get to go through the “Members Only” entrance this year, as will the entire Lifeguard Division of the L.A. County Fire Department (worth the price of a ticket alone). Also getting their feet sandy? Paul Stimpfl (and his boss, Wells Fargo & Company). There is still time to pick up a ticket or two for what is always a fun party in a gorgeous setting that lasts long after the sun goes down. Just don’t wear your Louboutins—unless the designer has made a sassy pair of flip flops by then.
