Designer Kelly Wearstler and the LACMA’s Avant-Garde group (good-lookin’ young professionals) sipped perfectly chilled champers (Brancott Estate Wines) at her boutique on Melrose in honor of her new book. LACMA’s spitfire Director of Major Giving Abby Bangser was on hand as was Amanda Luttrell (E!), and Designer Laurel Berman.
Wearstler signed copies of her latest coffee table tome Rhapsody while her sons ran around the boutique which is filled with boxes encrusted with semi-precious stones and body parts cast in different materials (Cameron Diaz said to be a fan of the legs bent at the knee that seems to emerge from a table). Every surface the boutique is covered in something exquisite. I felt in the presence of someone with far better taste than me. Afterwards I hopped into my new ride and drove away with my hazard lights on. I finally figured out how to turn them off halfway home.
