Herb Ritts: L.A. Style

The famous photog’s subjects stopped by the Getty to see what they looked like twenty years ago

You know you are “of a certain age” when you go to the museum and remember when the art on the wall was created—and still have the magazines in which they appeared. Well, wake me up before you go-go and put tennis balls on the bottom of my walker, I loved the J. Paul Getty Museum’s exhibition of photographer Herb Ritts’s work. Cindy Crawford appears in about one fourth of the photos the late photographer shot, and she and husband Rande Gerber stopped by the museum’s preview/opening to have a look. Many of Ritts’s photo subjects popped in for a drink and a looksee as well—models like Tatjana Patitz, Karen Alexander, and Mark Findlay, and admirers like singer Tracy Chapman, Greg Louganis, and the Broads. The works include Ritts’s fashion work, celeb portraits, and figure studies. It is a wonderful exhibition and it runs through August 26th. Pop in. More information
