Fred Armisen and Kristen Bell Get in the Indie Spirit

They’ll host this year’s Potty-Mouths by the Pacific (otherwise known as the Film Independent Spirit Awards)

The language tossed around at the Film Independent Spirit Awards is usually not for a PG-13 crowd. Award winners hit the podium and come up with some passionately creative cussing (I will always love you, Mickey Rourke, and miss you, Philip Seymour Hoffman). This year, for the Spirit Awards 30th anniversary, the hosts are Portlandia’s Fred Armisen and House of Lies’ Kristen Bell. Armisen attended the awards last year, and I should have known he was going to be the next host as he was seated two tables down from John Waters (the director has hosted more than once) and about ten steps from the stage. Bell was in the tent last year, too, and I’m already smiling at the thought of both of them hosting Film Independent’s nod to the smaller pics the day before the Oscars. I know Bell (aka Veronica Mars) can handle the Indie-insults, but can Armisen? I cannot wait to find out.

The show airs live on IFC on Feb 21st on IFC at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET.
