Nikki Sloan responded to our February Time Frame “Ghost Rider” featuring James Dean by submitting a photo she took of a memorial marking the last place the actor was spotted before he died in a car crash. We asked how she got the shot and here’s the Twitter version:
A mild-mannered banker by weekday, Sloan went on one of her occasional motorcycle rides with a tight group of friends from Ventura to Cambria when they stopped at Blackwell’s Corner General Store. Enamored with the nostalgic Dean sign—Sloan is a bigger fan of his car collection than his acting—she snapped an image. She wound up sending the image to Travel + Leisure, which held a photo contest. The editors were impressed enough that she won a fancy Nikon camera. Sloan doesn’t really use it though; she’s more of a point-and-click kind of gal.
