The F-Stop: Beatlemania At The Leica Gallery

You could call us a band of brothers, or maybe a sisterhood. What’s a name for a group of men and women who have all been through the trenches together? Co-commiserators? Whatever you want to call us, photo editors at magazines have a connection. A bond we share. So when then former photo director of LAM (Kathleen Clark) says to the current photo director of LAM (me) that she’s helping out on a new show over at the Leica Gallery, you can bet I’m going to write about it!

For its second effort since opening in June, Leica is revealing ‘The Early Beatles Collection,’ shot by Astrid Kirchherr. For me, the Beatles and the ’60s never go out of style. I even heard the new Paul McCartney single on KCRW this morning–not bad for a septuagenarian. Come on Ringo–your turn!

Check out the slide show above to see the fab four in all of their pre-Bieber, mop top glory. The show opens this Saturday, September 7th, and runs through October 19th.
