Malls like the Galleria and Koreatown Plaza are bustling fixtures for families and first dates. But hidden just off Western Avenue near those hulking structures is a handful of independent boutiques aimed at the shoppers who made the Fairfax District a style destination. The unisex clothing store CNVS (3807 W. 6th St.) is a limited-edition sneaker lair, while the Collective Skate Shop (3921 W. 6th St.) sells custom-painted skateboards and de rigueur snapback hats in a venue that almost feels like an art gallery. In the lobby of the Line hotel is Poketo (3515 Wilshire Blvd.), a scaled-down version of the eclectic DTLA clothing, housewares, and gift shop. Pick up a cloth “Korea-town” tote as a reminder to explore some more.
