Unique L.A. is the largest made-in-America trade show and shopping event in the world, and it’s back for a seventh run this weekend. On August 8th and 9th, more than 250 makers and designers will gather at the California Market Center downtown. There you can shop for handmade leather wallets and bags, jewelry, organic apothecary products, woodwork pieces, and ceramics.
Sonja Rasula founded the trade show to give the phrase “buy local” some extra cache, or as she puts it: to “help designers and small businesses grow and become sustainable, to support the local economy, and to teach shoppers the value of conscious consumerism.” Since debuting in Los Angeles, the Summer Market event has expanded to New York and San Francisco.
Tickets are required for entry and can be purchased online or at the door.
The large-scale event can be a bit overwhelming, so we’ve picked a few items to get you started.
