We can’t think of anything more festive than Julie Andrews holding a glittery present in a bejeweled sweater. Except maybe Julie Andrews lounging in a sequined checkerboard dress. Luckily our December 1986 issue has both, as well as a shot of the actor holding a jewel-encrusted bird. Because why not?
The magazine features a Q + A with the Mary Poppins star, who, at the time, was promoting her films That’s Life and Duet for One. When asked what people say about her behind her back, Andrews replies, “Devastating and funny things, like, ‘Her nose looks like a ski slope.’” We’ll have to object to that—Andrews (and her glitzy ’80s sweaters) are #flawless.
