From the outside, the new Stacey Todd store on Robertson Boulevard looks more like a boutique hotel with its understated sign hidden along a fence of tall hedges. Crystal chandeliers that dangle from tree branches overhead softly light a cobblestone courtyard entrance. The front door leads to the billiard room, where currently, a black felt pool table is covered with Rag & Bone jeans, sweaters, hats, and Helmut Newton coffee table books. “This is the Rag & Bone room,” says Todd (well, actually Feldman, Todd was her maiden name). When I ask which are her favorite Rag & Bone pieces this season, she responds by pointing to her ensemble: “Well, I’m wearing them!” (Boyfriend jeans and a black blazer and top.) Feldman is a big fan of the brand. Which makes sense. Her penchant for clothes that are both masculine and feminine is well known and admired, along with her preference of black and neutral colors. Minus a red plaid shirt and a green felt hat, nearly everything in the shop is neutral— gray, brown, black, or white. Feldman takes me on a quick tour, through the thick crowd that has gathered to check out her new digs, so that she can point out a few of her favorite pieces in the store right now.
