Nonna is a cozy nook with abundant natural light that opened earlier this month on North Figueroa Street in Highland Park. The store is a comfortable, unpretentious vessel for lines like A Détacher, Maryam Nassir Zadeh Ines, Rachel Comey, and tiny-jewelry designer Blanca Monrós Gómez.
Beginning on June 25th, Nonna will host a a trunk show (a West Coast debut!) for the womenswear line Carleen. New York-based designer Kelsy Carleen Parkhouse draws inspiration from California-centric imagery and color and the work of artist David Hockney, whose iconic swimming pool paintings convey through flatness the brilliant, sun-soaked hues of a Southern California summer. Carleen’s current collection consists of swingy, easy-to-throw-on dresses and knits that are made interesting by occasional bursts of stripes, paisleys, and blazing colors.
Nonna and Parkhouse will set sail to the trunk show with an in-store reception, beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday and running through the evening.
