Everyone is buzzing about Pantone’s Color of The Year, Radiant Orchid, and whether or not it merits a lipstick or shadow investment this spring. If the vivid zing of this crayola-like purple isn’t exactly the thing to get you in the mood for next season’s hearty embrace of pink, look to Kate Spade New York’s new lipstick collection, Supercalifragilipstick, which offers wearably safe shades of berry and pink that aren’t too saccharine or too vampy instead.
Launching exclusively at the eponymous boutiques and Nordstrom, this limited edition collection offers up four fantastically creamy power pink shades that give you slightly more coverage than a sheer stick but less than a fully matte version. It’s a different type of lipstick; the gold pop up bullet is ingeniously retro cool and does the serious job of preventing your lipstick from opening in your purse.
The lipstick itself is the ideal balance of color and care; the formula is made with the thick, nutritious castor oil, which seeps through dry skin to moisturize lips. Shea butter and aloe seal in this dollop of moisture and prevent your pucker from drying out even when you’re wearing liner. From the lot of slightly sheer shades, the Fanciful Merlot is the easiest way to wear a bold-but-cool red to work. For nude fans, Sweet Blush is the honeyed option you could wear without liner. Still, Decadent Berry is the one for me. It’s a soft berry that adds a sensual layer of color without being too girlish. And, it helps my teeth look whiter. Thanks, Kate.
