It’s a Billboard! It’s a Bag! It’s a Billboard Bag!

L.A.-based RAREFORM upcycles billboards into accessories

Imagine that billboard on Beverly Boulevard, the one that announces the latest blockbuster, repurposed as a backpack or tote. In 2012, when brothers Alec and Aric Avedissian launched their company, RAREFORM—which upcycles vinyl billboards into accessories—they had to rely on the giant walls of the existing adverts that dot L.A. like so many potholes. Now they’re working with local artists to create billboard art that will enhance the city’s aesthetic and segue flawlessly into limited-edition bags.
