“Shoes are the gateway to confidence,” says Scott, founder of The Office of Angela Scott, which is the latest addition to the luxury corridor leading up to Melrose Place. We chatted with its founder to find out what led her into the business of shoes and how she really feels about Crocs.
What shoes did you covet as a kid?
I was super into Vans and Converse, but we couldn’t afford them.
So I did my best to rock the J.C. Penney versions.
You take men’s styles—oxfords, loafers—and give them
a ladylike twist.
My grandfather, Nonno, was just cool—a handsome Italian man who always wore a suit with a bow tie, dress shoes, and dark, horn-rimmed glasses. If you flip over any pair of my oxfords, you’ll find a dovetail in the heel, which is an ode to his profession as a furniture designer.
Three items you can’t live without?
A rad pair of brogues in black, a black cashmere sweater, and a pair of black leather pants.
Biggest fashion faux pas?
Crocs. Bedazzled Crocs—even worse.
