Defending the One-Piece and More on Bikini Lifestyles

The one piece may have fallen out of favor in recent years, but it was this more demure style that turns up in some of the most iconic images of swimwear-clad women. Remember that ‘70s poster of Farrah Fawcett in a red number?  About 12 million copies were sold and that swimsuit hangs in the Smithsonian now.  Bo Derek’s cornrows and “perfect 10” body got everyone hot and bothered and she was wearing a fairly nondescript nude-colored one piece.

We feature both one- and two-piece bathing suit options in our June Issue, along with tips from the Fit Specialists at SwimSpot Santa Monica on how to chose the right suit for your figure. Check it out here.

For more bathing suit talk, including my favorite styles this season, tune into AM 790 this Saturday (5/26) at 7 pm.  I’ll be co-hosting an hour-long segment on the topic on the KABC Radio show “Bikini Lifestyles” with regular host and cookbook author The Bikini Chef Susan Irby.
