Fashion editor Linda Immediato test drives the latest trends in the LA Mag office, staffers sound off….
WHAT: I was surprised when a friend of mine announced that she was wearing her white jeans for the last time this season. A stickler for the “no white after Labor Day” rule, she planned to retire her recently Stitch Witchery-hemmed slacks after Saturday evening. My feeling is we have the right to wear white as long as it’s still 90 degrees outside. I thought most would agree with me. I decided to take the rule-breaking trend to the office today and see how co-workers felt.
Editor 1: Screw everyone! I’m not ready for summer to end.
Editor 2: It doesn’t really matter in LA does it?
Editor 3: Only you… You have to know what the rules are before you can break them.
Web Editor: It’s an inalienable right! Up there up with the pursuit of happiness— in temperatures above 80 degrees!
Art director: A definite “no” in NY, but in LA you can get away with it.
Photo editor: I’m all for it!
Verdict: I’m with Editor 1— I’m not ready for summer to end yet, either! Long live crisp white lace dresses and Stitch Witchery-hemmed white jeans!
