Character Study: Jane the Virgin

A wardrobe choice that’s flirty but chaste—and totally appealing

In one of the cleanest comedies on TV, the CW’s Jane The Virgin offers wholesome wit and a broad view on sexuality. The show follows the life of chaste Jane Villanueva after a doctor artificially inseminates her accidentally during what should have been a pap smear, turning the pregnant virgin’s life into a telenovela existence complete with lies, murder and a love triangle involving a sexy, Latino man.

Though Jane is a modest girl, her style is anything but plain. Her brightly patterned sundresses and bouncy curls match her bubbly, optimistic personality. A more modern take on Jane’s classy, youthful style, this Kate Spade Flirty Back Dress strikes a balance between conservative and alluring. With a bateau neckline that reigns in the sex appeal of a cutout back adorned with bowties, it says, “men can look but can’t touch.”
