L.A. in Love: Cooker’s Delight

Culinary tips for expressing yourself and impressing your loved ones

“Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate.” —Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt

This is more than true in my household! While I certainly love a giant bear hug, bedtime snuggles, and puppy kisses, there’s nothing I love more than cooking and sharing food with family and friends. For me, food equals love.

Cooking has become my ultimate expression of love for my husband and my two little girls. I mean really, is there anything better than sitting down to a homemade meal together? I look forward to this every single day.

Grocery shopping? Love it. Meal prep? Adore it. Cooking? Yes please. Watching my family consume this passion and share an experience together? Cloud nine.

With two small children, it can sometimes be hard to get out on the town with my man. One of my favorite things to do is to plan a date night for the two of us without leaving the house. While he puts the kids to sleep, I prepare the appetizer. You can’t have dinner on an empty stomach! I love to start with something easy like my Roasted Garlic Hummus.

It’s super easy to make, and it can be prepared ahead of time. Oh, and this hummus? It’s the creamiest, most delicious hummus ever. You’ll never buy store bought hummus again.

Now for the star of the show—the main course. Nothing says love like a big bowl of pasta…This comforting Fettucine Turkey Bolognese is the PERFECT date night in meal. There are certainly no words needed when serving up a bowl of this.

Using ground turkey instead of beef lightens up this dish just enough while still keeping the bold flavors of the homemade sauce. Talk about a quick and easy way to someone’s heart. Doctor’s claim to have a different method. We’ll agree to disagree.

When it comes to dessert, I’m all about the classics. There’s just no better way to say ‘I love you’ than with a fresh batch of Soft Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies.
