Celebrate the Best of Summer at Terranea

Everything you love about the season in one dreamy location
1021

Terranea Resort, a 102-acre resort perched atop the Palos Verdes Peninsula, sparkles in summer with a raft of special activities and events—from stand-up paddleboarding to live music, plus, of course, leisurely sun-drenched afternoons by the pool or beach—but there’s even more happening this June as Terranea celebrates its 10th anniversary.

“It is through the support of our beloved neighbors, local partners, and all members of the incredible Palos Verdes Peninsula that we continue to thrive—and create a memorable resort experience for every guest who enters our doors—a decade in. To commemorate this marquee year, we will host a variety of celebratory events and distinctive guest activities throughout 2019,” says Terranea Resort President Terri A. Haack.

For those who like to organize their getaways by holiday, Terranea has packed in plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation (and more than a little fun) in 2019, including over Memorial Day Weekend, when the resort kicks off its summer Sound Series at Nelson’s with featured local bands every Friday and Saturday night, and on the Fourth of July, when Terranea hosts a Music in the Meadows festival with bands, hyper-local Farm-to-Terranea cuisine, and beers from area breweries—all served up oceanside.

Holiday or not, the resort’s tranquil Mediterranean-inspired property offers a true escape from the city—and at less than an hour’s drive from downtown L.A. Plan your visit to coincide with a Sea Harvest Workshop for a taste and background on the sea salt and kelp cured onsite or take advantage of a full moon yoga session, part of Terranea’s commitment to wellness that extends to Immersive Wellness daycation packages that wrap up ocean kayaking, health-focused workshops, and spa treatments into one serene experience. For something different, explore the oceanfront pool at night at Cielo After Dark with rotating guest DJs, dancing, and VIP bottle service on summer weekends.

Many of Terranea’s summer activities take full advantage of its picture-perfect Southern California location overlooking the sparkling aquamarine Pacific Ocean, including golf camps for kids and adults (the course offers views of Catalina Island), falconry demonstrations where you can watch a bird of prey soar regally over the property, and plein air painting sessions designed to bring your inner artist out.

Whether you drop by for a meal or pack a suitcase to spend the week, Terranea is all about choices. Do as little as you please at a poolside cabana or fill your day with a hike, whale watching, spa treatments, and plenty of gourmet bites at any of its nine dining options, including solviva, which focuses on nutrient-rich ingredients and locally and sustainably grown produce.

More than $40 million has been reinvested into the property over Terranea’s 10-year history and that includes a 2017 redesign and refresh of all guest rooms. Many of the Mediterranean-influenced bungalows, casitas, and villas offer pool or ocean views and come with extras such as a fire pit or a deep soaking tub. To accommodate multiple needs, there’s a special wellness-focused adults-only section and connectible suites for sprawling family groups.

No matter how you slice it, there’s no better place to celebrate summer in true Southern California style than at Terranea, and no better time than its summer-long 10th anniversary celebration.
