Waterloo & City

A former diner in Culver City has been converted into a British-style gastropub, complete with toile wallpaper (look closely—it depicts gritty scenes of urban London), a lengthy international beer list, and dishes that range from burgers and pizza to a trotters and sweetbread terrine. Chef Brendan Collins comes from the French-influenced Palihouse, which might explain why he seems so at home whipping foie gras into a mousse and topping asparagus with a poached egg and morels. The Murgh Makhani pizza, slathered with yogurt, cucumber, and spices, is a tribute to England’s infatuation with Indian food. The mashed potatoes atop the shepherd’s pie special had us licking the dish. » 12517 Washington Blvd., Culver City (310-391-4222 or waterlooandcity.com). D nightly; brunch Sat.-Sun. Full bar.
