The Olive Kitchen + Bar

Greg Morris of the Spanish Kitchen and Oak Fire Pizzeria has ventured into casual hotel dining at the newly redesigned Grafton on Sunset. Dimly lit and featuring a guitar-heavy soundtrack, it’s hip enough to satisfy a visiting rock star while accessible enough (thanks to flat screens and chummy service) to cater to business travelers. Lacquered mahogany tables, yellow leather booths, and Lichtenstein-inspired chalkboard murals don’t telegraph the spot’s Mediterranean menu of pizzas, pastas, and seafood. The charcuterie plate is generous, though we’d gladly take seconds of the accompanying fig mustard. The cioppino is light and robustly spicy at the same time, and the Parmesan béchamel on the lobster macaroni actually enhances the critter’s delicate flavor. The bar delivers herb-inspired delights. » Grafton on Sunset, 8462 W. Sunset Blvd. (323-650-1250 or B-L-D daily. Full bar. Italian  $$$
