Praise PCH! There’s a destination restaurant in Malibu. Paul Shoemaker has packed up the haute cuisine know-how he acquired during stints at Bastide, Providence, and Water Grill and opened a lovely spot at Point Dume. There’s no ocean view, but the locals at the wine bar get enough of that from their terraces. What they can’t usually find? A fig, burrata, and prosciutto salad, silken butternut squash soup swirled with maple syrup, and house-made fettuccine studded with clams. Steaks, crab cakes, and salmon are set apart by straight-from-the-farm ingredients like chestnuts, butterball potatoes, and Bloomsdale spinach.  >>  29169 Heathercliff Rd. , Malibu (310-589-8997 or D Tue.-Sun.
