L.A. Chapter

With its grand architectural details, the Ace Hotel is a visual marvel, as is its lobby restaurant, L.A. Chapter. Polished brass tables come at a premium in the tiny space, but once seated you can enjoy uni-draped chitarra pasta or licorice-scented duck breast plated so attractively, it’s almost too beautiful to eat. The brunch crowds can opt for avocado toast sprinkled with Aleppo pepper and Bloody Marys spiced with Tabasco. Chef Ken Addington gussies up the standard burger, adding slices of grilled pineapple and tangy pickled beets. For a hotel restaurant, even one as slick as the Ace’s, the kitchen’s ambition is noticeable. » 927 S. Broadway, 213-235-9660.
