Beverly Boulevard’s Kokomo Cafe has taken over some prime real estate at Silver Lake’s Sunset Junction. K2 is a mod lunchy and brunchy spot with a mild Cajun focus that’s executed in dishes like fried catfish, jambalaya, a bourbon BBQ steak sandwich, and eggs Lafayette with andouille. We like the Southern angle, but the menu’s so big that dishes and details tend to fall through the cracks. The lime curry chicken salad had mushy cashews and lacked the required decadent creaminess. The pressed Cuban sandwich can’t compete with the one at Cafe Tropical down the street. Eggs, fish, meats, and produce are mostly organic, sustainable, and hormone free, which the neighborhood digs. The $1 filtered water, however, has folks up in arms. » 3916 W. Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake (323-662-7698). B-L daily. No alcohol. American  $
