BierBeisl celebrates all things Austrian. That includes the beers, the wines, the schnapps (uh-huh), and the chef. Patina alumnus Bernhard Mai-ringer, a tall, exceptionally Austrian-looking presence, understands how to showcase the foods of his homeland for Angelenos. Schnitzel—made with veal, pork, or turkey—is refined, the coating more draped than crusted around moist meat. A tartare of cured arctic char receives a crown of baby greens. A creamy veal goulash is spooned beside plump herb spaetzle. One only has to ask, What does Wolfgang think? » 9669 S. Santa Monica Blvd., 310-271-7274.
