My LA To Z: Mayim Bialik

“The Big Bang Theory” funny girl, neuroscience Ph.D., and Los Angeles native (who recently sat on a panel of celebrity enthusiasts for Gillette’s “Man of Steel” campaign) fills us in on her favorite vintage clothier, where she catches a comedy show, and how she indulges her vegan leanings.

Native Foods Cafe

Oh my gosh, their Reuben is outrageous. It’s my favorite vegan Reuben, and I’ve sampled a lot of places. They make it with a corn beef-type product, marbled rye, sauerkraut, vegan cheese and a Thousand Island dressing.

Iguana Vintage Clothing

I don’t like shopping, but I do like thrift shops. I just got a really nice vintage polka dot sundress. I love polka dots, and it’s perfect for the summer.

Angeles National Forest

I tend to be outdoorsy, so I take advantage of all the places we can drive to from L.A. We do a lot of camping.

Murad Inclusive Health Spa

I’m pretty low maintenance, but I do like Murad Spa. Especially because they have a lot of vegan friendly products.

The Groundlings

This is something I’ll do—a little something for myself—if I’m free of children.

My kids don’t really have a sweet tooth, but our favorite candy store is called Munchies. We don’t do it a lot, but it’s like a full circus in one store. They have vegan chocolate-covered bananas and you can get a vegan soft-serve sundae. They have a vegan version of basically every candy bar.

La Brea Tar Pits

That’s a place I remember so well from when I was a kid. Watching your own children roll down the hills like you did is pretty cool.

Go for the view, for the L.A. history. The food’s not fantastic, but it’s so close to Griffith Park. It’s such a core Hollywood spot.
