3 Peaceful Waterside Spots in L.A. That’ll Soothe Your Soul

A little time by the water can go a long way

Need to press the reset button? Here are three waterside spots where you can get your peace on.

Leo Carrillo State Park

If you’ve seen Bronson Cave in Griffith Park or maybe the Manson family cave in the Santa Susanas, the cave at Leo Carrillo State Park will surprise you: It’s roomy and cool. From the overflow parking lot, head to lifeguard tower three, go down the nearby staircase, and turn right. 35000 Pacific Coast Hwy., Malibu

Marsh Park

The Los Angeles River will be a work in progress for decades to come, but Marsh Park is a strong opening salvo. Laying low between a residential neighborhood and the river, it’s a blissfully peaceful green space to happen upon during an urban river walk. 2960 Marsh St., Elysian Valley

Cold Creek

While most streams around here are seasonal, Cold Creek flows year-round. So it’s understandable that the only way to see the 1,600-acre preserve, found between Calabasas and Malibu, is by reservation. You’ll receive driving directions when you call the Mountains Restoration Trust. 818-591-1701
