Pets: Gratuity Not Included


Pam Holt once got a call from the owner of an anxious bunny with abuse issues. “I massaged that rabbit for six months,” says the certified animal masseuse and owner of Buddha Dog Animal Massage (818-300-4478). “Rabbits have problems with human touch—massage calms them.” Holt sees mostly dogs and cats: Great Danes with hip dysplasia, Chihuahuas with luxating patellas, tabbies with arthritis. “As with humans,” she says, “massage helps circulation, speeds healing, and eases stiffness.” Holt’s technique includes Reiki and acupressure, and no problem is too small: “I’d massage a mouse if I got the call.”
