Yes, the holidays are behind us, but it’s never too early to start planning a Spring vacation. Or should I say, a Spring beercation (yes, yes I should say that). And no matter how much time off you want to rock, there’s a Goldilocksian beer-fueled adventure that’s just right for you.

The Weekend Brew Tour
San Diego is home to some of the best craft breweries in the world. And, lest you forget, it’s within driving distance of Los Angeles. If you’re driving down Friday evening, stop into Stone Brewing Company before you make it into the city. The food is great, and Stone is one of the OG outfits in the area.

On the itinerary for Saturday: White Labs – a company that provides yeast strains to breweries around the world – has a fun educational space that allows beer aficionados to compare and contrast the flavors or different yeast strains and fermentation processes. Make stops at Societe Brewing Company, Modern Times Beer, and Coronado Brewery to fill out the rest of the day.

Head a little north of the city for your Sunday destinations. The Lost Abbey is a non-negotiable stop on this weekend getaway, and Mother Earth Brewing will leave you with fond memories of your weekend trip to the brewing wonderland of San Diego.

The Week in Beer Paradise
You need not go all the way to Belgium to visit a beer capital of the world. Portland, Oregon has enough brewing activity to keep you busy for a year. So if you’ve got a week to spare and an unquenchable thirst, this Bud’s for you.

I’ll leave it to you to plan the day-by-day. After all, Portland ALSO claims the highest number of strip clubs per capita. You’ll have quite a bit to fit in. But any self-respecting beer nerd will make sure to check the following places off the list: Cascade Brewing, Hopworks Urban Brewery, Ecliptic Brewing, Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House, Gigantic Brewing, and Rogue Distillery and Public House.

The Beer Staycation
That’s right, friends! Los Angeles has plenty of fine breweries to keep you busy if you can’t make it out of town. And we’ve got several hubs of brewing activity to choose from for your staycation needs.

Torrance and the South Bay: Smog City. Monkish. Strand. Phantom Carriage. All four of these excellent breweries fall within just a few miles of each other in the South Bay.

The Arts District: It seems like a new brewery opens every day in the Arts District Downtown. Old favorites like Angel City are sharing space with new kids like Mumford Brewing and Arts District Brewing. Boomtown Brewery will soon have a taproom, and Iron Triangle Brewing is set to open any day now.

Anaheim Area: For some, Anaheim is a bit of a drive, but it still counts as a day trip. And some of Southern California’s best breweries call the area home. Stop in to Noble Ale Works, Bottle Logic Brewing and The Bruery to get the full OC experience.
