Jailhouse on the Rocks: Where to Celebrate Elvis’ 80th Birthday

Tiki No will serve cocktails inspired by some of The King’s greatest hits

It’s almost time for the big holiday, a night where you can drink with old friends and new friends, ponder the choices you’ve made, and think about what you might want to do better as you listen to songs about heartbreak and regret and love and hope. We’re talking about Elvis Presley’s birthday, of course.

Yes, you’ve only got a week after New Year’s Day to get yourself ready for the celebration. Elvis would have turned 80 on January 8, 2015, and North Hollywood’s Tiki No bar will mark the occasion that night with special $8 cocktails inspired by some of Presley’s greatest hits.

The festivities will include the blazing Hunka Hunka Burning Love, which features Three Olives Elvis Presley coconut water vodka, of course, and a cherry soaked in Bacardi 151 that’s lit on fire. There’s also a Ketel One orange meets blue Curacao cocktail called the Blue Suede Shoe. The Heartbreak Hotel peanut-rum liqueur concoction comes with a bacon garnish, and the Jailhouse on the Rocks is Southern Comfort, crème de banana, and blue Curacao.

If you get hungry, the Burnt to a Crisp food truck will be there with a grilled peanut butter-and-banana sandwich appropriately named The King.
