Warm Up with Holiday Drinks at Little Beast, The Pikey, and Stark Bar

Mulled wine and spiced rum should get you into a festive spirit
41

Tis the season for warm holiday drinks, even if you’ve spent the day stand-up paddleboarding, hiking Runyon, or buying berries at the farmers market.

At Little Beast in Eagle Rock, visitors this month are greeted by the aroma of warm, spicy mulled wine that’s ladled at the bar and infuses the whole restaurant with a festive fragrance. For the mulled wine, chef Sean Lowenthal is using a old family recipe that’s been a favorite at holiday parties for generations. Since the holidays are all about giving, any customer who orders a glass of mulled wine will also get the recipe.

At The Pikey in Hollywood, the English pub menu has been enhanced with winter cocktails that include a hot spiced cider made with cold-pressed apple cider, orange juice, star anise, allspice, cardamom, chili flakes, and Busnel Fine Calvados.

Over at LACMA, the Scrooged menu at Stark Bar, served from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. this month, means you can eat festive Long Wreaths of Sausages (goose cotechino with chestnuts, sage, and apples) and warm up with drinks like a Smokey Toddy (Laphroaig, honey, Velvet Falernum, lemon) or the Rum Bless Us Everyone (spiced rum, honey, house-made spiced butter, cinnamon stick).

Sounds like it’s worth pretending it’s cold outside.
