Looking for something new to drink this weekend? Here are three cocktails that have just been added to menus around town.
The Members Only at ShoreBar
The nightlife wizards at the H.Wood Group (Blind Dragon, The Nice Guy, relaunching-in-the-summer Bootsy Bellows) have brightened the menu at ShoreBar in Santa Monica with seasonal drinks including The Members Only with El Silencio mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, agave syrup, orange, angostura bitters, and grapefruit zest. This bar, of course, has a Members Only room, with ocean views and personal lockers for high-rollers’ wines and liquors of choice. Thankfully, this drink is accessible even for those who aren’t able to reach such heights.
The Blackjack Smash at Now Boarding
The new aviation-themed cocktail bar in West Hollywood is launching “You Don’t Know Jack” Sundays with live bands playing funk, soul, and R&B starting at 9 p.m. each week. (Yes, we’re a bit sad that there’s not smart-ass trivia questions involved as well.) The no-cover-charge performances can be paired with special $9 Jack Daniel’s cocktails like the Blackjack Smash with Jack, lemon juice, sugar, blackberries, and mint leaves.
Mean Green Fairy at Acabar
This Mediterranean-themed restaurant and lounge in Hollywood added special absinthe cocktails to the menu in honor of National Absinthe Day last week, and it’s serving the drinks all month. In addition to a classic absinthe Sazerac and Last Resort, bar manager Jon Eiswerth has come up with his own creation: His Mean Green Fairy is absinthe, pineapple juice, mint, lime, strawberry, and ginger beer.
