Spend a Night in Capri via Warwick’s New Cocktails

Jason Bran’s beachy drinks—including frozen limoncello—will transport you to the Mediterranean

This Wednesday Warwick, the sexy Hollywood nightclub by Jeffrey Best, debuts a completely brand-new look and theme for summer: Capri Nights. With the help of bright beachy colors of blue, yellow, and pink, along with patterned canopies and lanterns, nightclubbers will be transported from Sunset Boulevard to the Mediterranean just by walking into the room.

Warwick’s concept is one of impermanence with regular redesigning. For each new theme, the entire space is updated—this past fall the theme was Hollywood noir glamour, last summer it was nautical blue and white stripes, and before that came the Prohibition era.

For each change, beverage director Jason Bran completes the theme with his on-point cocktails. This time his eight offerings would be best enjoyed under a parasol on a hot day while beachside, but a hot nightclub in Hollywood will do. The drinks are light, refreshing, colorful, and fresh. All the juices are squeezed in house.

Here’s a peek at six of the new drinks. The last two (not pictured) will be frozen cocktails, a piña colada and limoncello, which will come courtesy of new slushie machines.

Amalfi Sunset: This variation of a Paloma is summer-fied with strawberry-infused tequila. For an aromatic quality, Bran also used salt with vanilla.

Carpiccioso (Italian slang for “swagger”): A longtime fan of Cocchi, Bran wanted to entice vodka-loving nightclubbers to give it a chance, so he infused it with strawberries for this Spritz cocktail. “I always like to challenge myself by putting something in front of people…our crowd would not normally go for Cocchi. If I put strawberry in anything, everybody is going to try it, it’s going to sell. It has such beautiful, dry finish to it,” says Bran.

Coco Pina Frescas: Back from Warwick’s very first menu, this drink is where the piña colada meets a daiquiri. The idea of the coconut foam originated from Damian Windsor’s Roger Room’s award-winning cocktail called the Tijuana Brass, which had cucumber foam.

Melone Faraglioni: This simple but delicious drink is meant to emulate the famed columns decorating Capri. Instead of using ice cubes to chill it, Bran sticks a house-made watermelon popsicle in it. Made from fresh watermelon juice, it slowly melts into the cocktail,creating the ultimate summer concoction that also features coconut flavors.

Pesca Bello: Italian for “nice peach,” this one is a refreshing peachy whiskey buck, though Bran says that vodka can easily be substituted for the whiskey. “I think every place that I’ve worked, switching out the spirit for vodka is a very common thing that people ask for,” he says. But, trust me, keep the whiskey.

Warwick Cup No. 5: Warwick always makes sure to have an updated Pimm’s Cup variant on its menu. Thanks to the addition of more fresh apple juice than soda, the Warwick Pimm’s has a more profound flavor. Naturally this baby has been updated for summer with mango syrup and fresh mango garnishes.

The new theme and summer menu are unveiled this Wednesday.
