What’s your shift drink?
“We chug Kabinett under stelvin [screw cap]. Why, you may ask, are two young and wicked wine stewards drinking bargain freezing-cold, low-alcohol Rieslings out of the bottle? The answer is simple: we didn’t have the luxury of coming up in wine during an era when first growths and grand cru Burgundies/Bordeauxs were widely available and affordable to drink. It’s a punitive reality that we must embrace for the rest of our puny and pathetic wine lives. Oh, and it’s f*cking refreshing.”
