Mad Men is ending. You’re going to want a drink for this.
West Hollywood cocktail lounge Now Boarding, with its 1950s and ’60s Golden Age of Flying vibe, is throwing a viewing party for Sunday’s final-season premiere of Mad Men. Guests will be able to toast their favorite hard-boozing ad exec with special $9 Mad Men cocktails, including Sterling (Reyka Vodka, Carpano dry vermouth, pickle brine, chilled and served up), Cooper (crème de menthe, crème de cacao, cream, served up), Draper (Rittenhouse Rye, Amaro Nonino, bitters, chilled and served neat), and Pryce (Bombay Dry Gin, Velvet Falernum, lemon, passion fruit, orgeat, served tall.)
You’ll probably need more than one cocktail as you ponder what’s going to happen Don Draper in the final seven episodes, but, look, this is Mad Men, so we don’t advise that you start a drinking game where you take a sip every time somebody in the show does. That could result in something like that Roger Sterling puking scene we’re not going to link to, because nobody needs to see that again.
Now Boarding is going all out on Sunday. The party starts at 7 p.m., and a live jazz band will play before and after the 9 p.m. episode, which will be shown on two-big screen TVs. Whoever shows up with the best Mad Men costume will receive a free bottle locker (normally $600 for a year, and it comes with priority entry on weekends and invites to members-only parties). Stay after the show for late-night happy hour from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. if you want $9 specialty cocktails from the regular menu or $6 well drinks—because if Mad Men has taught us anything, it’s that a long night of pounding drinks shouldn’t stop you from stumbling into work the next morning.
