Mixologist Matthew Biancaniello has an amazing ability to get people excited about anything he’s doing with his cocktails, whether it’s a sea urchin-laced creation or stinging nettle-infused gin. It’s no wonder he has a loyal following of foodies who anxiously await his every move. Well now he’s back and working his magic on, of all things, tea. Next Thursday, June 19, at American Tea Room in Beverly Hills, Biancaniello will teach guests how to infuse spirits with tisane for cocktails. It’s not as exotic as uni, but definitely something you can do at home. Naturally, actual Biancaniello tea cocktails will be on hand at this “tea-vent” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for your learning and drinking pleasure. Here’s what drinks are in store:
- Arya Diamond (first flush Darjeeling tea)-infused Barr Hill Gin with blackberries and Black Peruvian mint topped with a Tsuyukaori (rare hand-picked Japanese Shincha)-infused St. Germain foam
- Tangier (apricot black tea) infused 123 Tequila with Blenheim apricots and shiso with a Sleeping Beauty brew
- Masala Chai vodka with condensed milk
- Virgin mocktail: Martinique with strawberries and lemon balm
Tickets are $30 and will also include ATR signature teas, bites from Valerie Confections and a 20 percent discount off in-store purchases. The event will also feature a sneak preview of what Valerie Confections will be serving up at American Tea Room’s new downtown location, which opens in November.
