L.A. Chapter Goes Retro for Your Strawberry Daiquiri Cravings

The Ace Hotel’s all-day brasserie also updates the Cosmopolitan, Midori Sour, and White Russian

Brand new you’re retro.

The ’80s are back—but with a twist—at bars and restaurants all over the city, and the Mezzanine at L.A. Chapter in Downtown’s Ace Hotel is joining the wayback-machine party.

As part of a new spring menu, beverage director Dan Sabo is debuting new cocktails this week that are creative, modern updates of drinks that were popular in the ’70s and ’80s. These concoctions remain as colorful as you might expect, but they’re being made with quality ingredients, like the house-made cranberry-apple syrup you’ll find in the Cosmopolitan and the strawberry puree and rose essence in the Strawberry Daiquiri. There’s also L.A. Chapter’s versions of a Midori Sour (green chartreuse, Midori, lime, absinthe, and green tea tincture) and a White Russian (coffee bitters, Kahlua, and Fernet Branca-infused cream).
