From the absinthe cart at Sage to property mixologist Craig Schoettler’s flavored ice cubes that transform cocktails while you’re imbibing them, the Aria casino resort is a wonderful place to drink in Las Vegas.
And if you fancy yourself a good home bartender, now’s your chance to prove it and try to get one of your creations added to the hotel’s menu. At Saturday’s Mix Master: Pour Like a Pro event during the Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appetit festival, Schoettler (who was previously at Grant Achatz’s The Aviary in Chicago) will host a cocktail seminar. And then the throwdown at Aria’s Alibi Cocktail Lounge starts. Contestants will break up into teams and compete to make the best original cocktail. The winning team’s drink will be added to Aria’s lineup.
Of course, if you’d prefer to just drink instead of making drinks, that’s fine too. And Uncork’d has plenty of other buzz-worthy options, from Thursday’s Tequila and Tacos party at Caesars Palace with Border Grill’s Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger to Saturday’s California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir event at Bellagio with Rajat Parr of Domaine de la Cote, Jasmine Hirsch of Hirsch Vineyards, Matt Licklider of Lioco, and Steve Matthiasson of Matthiasson.
