Game on: Pair Peroni Cocktails with Cards Against Humanity at The Spare Room

New beverage director Yael Vengroff shakes up tournament nights

With its bowling lanes and board games, The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel is a place where you can get competitive while sipping serious drinks. And now new beverage director Yael Vengroff (formerly of Harvard & Stone and Proprietors LLC) is putting her own spin on the cocktail/gaming lounge’s popular Monday tournament nights.

The Monday showdowns, which start at 9 p.m. and coincide with the bar’s regular bowling league, are sponsored by Peroni Nastro Azzurro, so Vengroff’s cocktail menu includes Looking for the Magic with Peroni, rye, Amaro Meletti, honey, and lemon. That’s significantly more elegant than some of the other beer cocktails in town. Another option for Peroni fans is a $30 bucket of six beers, which might fortify you for next Monday’s staring contest.

The upcoming calendar also includes Cards Against Humanity on Feb. 16, and Jenga on March 2. Good luck balancing things after a couple drinks.
