Cocktail Recipe: What the Stars Will Drink at the Oscars

Scotch takes center stage at both the awards ceremony and the Governors Ball

Diageo mixologist Joe Brooke says he always tries to incorporate ginger into awards-season cocktails because “it settles the stomach.”

So the Scot’s Pear signature cocktail that will be served at the Oscars on February 22 includes ginger as both an ingredient and a garnish (recipe below). Nominees and other Academy Awards attendees will be greeted with this Johnnie Walker Platinum Label cocktail, as well as exclusive, custom-made Sterling Vineyard wines, when they step off the red carpet.

It will be the start of a long alcohol-fueled evening that will continue after the ceremony at the official Oscars after-party, the Wolfgang Puck-catered-to-the-max Governors Ball, where there will be a Gold and Soda bar featuring Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve. Scotch and soda might never be the same again.
