Now that our resident beer expert Jolie Myers has gotten you sufficiently excited about beer festival season, it’s time to mark your calendars. Start with tomorrow, Friday, April 3, because that’s when tickets go on sale for L.A. Beer Week’s kickoff event. The Saturday, June 20 bash at Exposition Park starts more than a week of parties where local breweries, bars, and restaurants celebrate craft beer. The kickoff event will feature more than 75 breweries, live music, and panel discussions. Pre-sale tickets start at $40. There are 250 early-bird tickets at this price, which get you into the party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; the 500 VIP tickets ($65) gives guests early entry at noon.
Meanwhile in the South Bay, where the rising tide of a beer scene has just gotten a new craft beer bar in Hawthorne, Redondo Beach’s King Harbor Brewing Co. will throw its one-year-anniversary party—complete with beer tents, cask beers from Cask Ale L.A., live music, and even a dunk tank—on Saturday, April 11, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Tickets are $50 and get you eight 12-ounce pours, a commemorative anniversary mug, and a bottle of King Harbor’s Anniversary Ale (an Imperial Brown Ale brewed with graham crackers and aged in Corsair whiskey barrels) to take home.
