Voted “Best in LA” by Los Angeles magazine, INCOGNITO, Southern California’s legendary annual art exhibition and benefit sale, returned for its eighth year to the Santa Monica Museum of Art, with a record 700 artworks by 500 leading, mid-career and emerging contemporary artists, including John Baldessari, Charles Gaines, Alexandra Grant, Martin Kersels, Kim McCarty, Ed Moses, Leonard Nimoy, Laura Owens, Raymond Pettibon, Ed Ruscha, Jennifer Steinkamp, William Wegman, and Pae White. The concept for this exciting evening: Participants are encouraged to trust their instincts to guide their selections, as all works are signed on the back and artist identities are not revealed until after purchase. An inaugural PRECOGNITO allowed 300 guests to preview the works beforehand. All proceeds benefit the Museum’s highly acclaimed exhibitions and education programs. This year’s guests included Michael Mann, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Simon Baker, Robin Tunney, Perrey Reeves, Sasha Alexander and Edoardo Ponti, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, Wendy West and Andrew Stearn.
