The Pandemic Put the Brakes on This Couple’s Italian Dream Wedding

Each week we ask a local couple, ”How did you meet?” And, now, ”How how are you spending the quarantine?”

In our series How Did You Meet?, local couples tell us how they first hooked up. Lately, they’ve also been sharing how they’re spending their first quarantine together.

Gabriella and Collin were planning on a July wedding in Italy but those plans were put off due to the coronavirus.

“We’re keeping a positive attitude,” says 32-year-old Gabriella, a project manager for Oracle. The two met on a blind date when she was living in NYC. He’d almost canceled but Gabriella wasn’t about to let that happen since she’d gotten all dolled up, complete with a blow-out that day.

“It was love at first sight,” says 35-year-old Collin, a sales consultant for Trinet. There was just one issue: Collin lived in L.A.

They traveled back and forth for a while and then Gabriella landed a job in Los Angeles. They got engaged a year ago and are waiting to reschedule their wedding.

“It’s now canceled indefinitely,” says Gabrielle who doesn’t go outside the house without her superchic mask by designer Ripley Rader. ”We hope to get married sometime next year.”
