This Couple Had to Fend Off Friends Who Thought They Were Too Young for True Love

Each week we ask a local couple, ’How did you meet?’

In our series How Did You Meet?, local couples tell us how they first hooked up.

Priscilla and Job met when they were both in middle school, and they’ve sort of been together ever since. “We broke up a couple of times,” admits Priscilla, 31. “But when we turned 19, we decided to make it work and stay together.”

It hasn’t always been an easy road; in fact, both have endured family and friends telling them they were simply too young for a long-term commitment. “There have been a lot of objections from our friends and family,” says Priscilla, who makes handmade dog accessories.

Plenty of people who weighed in thought they should date other people, but they refused to listen. “The only experience I want is with the person right here,” says Job, who is now 32 and works with Autistic children. “We have a wealth of experiences and memories that I wouldn’t replace or trade for anything.”
