Event Alert: Learn How to Cure Your Own Bacon

Because, why not?
The Institute of Domestic Technology lists its mission as “rediscovering the future of home economics,” which, well, sounds a little bit like Back to the Future and a little bit like fun. Firmly in the ‘fun’ category is their next class, taking place on Tuesday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Inside the Greystone Mansion’s vintage kitchen in Beverly Hills, instructor Rashida Purifoy (Chef/Owner of Cast Iron Gourmet) will lead a class called Pork Belly 101, followed by instructions on how to cure bacon at home. There’s a difference between wet and dry curing and you, as a bacon-lover, want to know all about it. You’ll also learn how to make a smoker at home (!).
$95 per person includes instruction, demonstration, supplies, and tastings, including a snifter of bacon-infused bourbon. Sign up here.
