Chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke have added breakfast and lunch dishes to their lineup at the old Campanile space. Enjoy the sun-lit room’s architectural details while sipping a latte and nibbling on one of several new savory offerings. The menu includes Walter’s Favorite perfectly poached eggs, half a baguette, butter, jam, orange juice, and coffee. For for a piquant twist, diners can try the fried egg atop kimchi fried rice and short ribs (pictured). A plump berry fills each square crevice in Republique’s light waffles. The egg atop a rich croque madame has the kind of crisp, lacy edges only a turn in a buttery pan could achieve. Though the chefs say they’re still “tweaking the menu,” it’s already a hit with their regulars. Don’t forget about Margarita’s baked goods—croissants, financiers, bomboloni, lemon meringue tarts—sold at the front counter.Â
Breakfast and lunch is served from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
