World Cup of Wine at Seasons 52 — 5/23
Sip of Vino presents a night of endless red, white, and sparkling wines from around the world at Seasons 52 in Century City. For $60 you can drink as little (or as much) as you like while enjoying discounted small plates from the kitchen and playing old school games like Jenga and Connect Four. Cleaned out the bar and need a ride home? The event is sponsored by Sidecar, and tickets include a free ride home for up to $20. More information.

The 56th Garden Grove Strawberry Festival — 5/23-26
Take a road trip south this Memorial Day weekend for a four-day festival honoring the strawberry. The fair features 35 carnival rides, contests, more than 200 food and craft booths, games, music, and live entertainment. Edible highlights include a strawberry cake-cutting ceremony (free cake!), strawberry-topped funnel cakes, and a strawberry parade complete with floats. Admission is free, berrylicious goodies and ride tickets are extra. More information.

MAINopoly on Santa Monica’s Main Street — 5/25
Also known as A Taste of Main Street, MAINopoly is Santa Monica’s interactive food event that mimics Monopoly, allowing players to taste bites from the street’s participating restaurants by paying with MAINopoly dollars. From 2 to 8 p.m., you can enjoy ceviche from Enterprise Fish Co. and Magic Brownies from M Street Kitchen while sipping $5 cocktails and beers from the beer garden. Hit up all the spots on the “game board” for a chance to win restaurant gift certificates. A portion of the proceeds will go to Summer SOULstice and Heal the Bay. Tickets cost $25 in advance or $35 at the door. More information.

Brazilian Night at Escala — 5/26
The Koreatown pub Escala goes Brazilian for one night with a bar takeover by Matthew Biancaniello (POT Bar), Cari Hah (Neat), and the restaurant’s own Aaron Melendrez. The three will mix cocktails and pour shots with the Brazilian spirit Novo Fogo Cachaca while the chef serves small plates of South American favorites. The takeover will include food and drink discounts and shake-it-yourself caipirinhas, mason jars included! The deals take place from 7 to 10 p.m. More information.

Rooftop Beer Garden Launch at Chaya — 5/27-8/29
Welcome the warm weather at Downtown’s Japanese fusion spot, Chaya. The restaurant’s annual summer beer garden launches this week complete with a Japanese barbecue menu, seasonal cocktails, craft beers, and boozy snow cones—all to be enjoyed on their comfy outdoor patio. Enjoy the summer specials and live music daily from 4 p.m. until close. Bonus: They’re also debuting their new kaisen menu loaded with dishes like uni-glazed king crab legs and $1 oysters. Social Hour: Suzanne Goin and Jessica Koslow Team Up at A.O.C.! — 5/27
Join our dine editor Lesley Suter and Digest blog editor Garrett Snyder as they toast our list of the 75 Best Restaurants in L.A. with dinner and drinks at the #1 spot, A.O.C. For this intimate gathering, chef Suzanne Goin will join forces with chef Jessica Koslow of Sqirl (#7) to create a family-style feast honoring L.A.’s top female chefs as well as the two high-ranking restaurants. For the toasting, A.O.C.’s Christiaan Rollich will create a signature Flor de Caña rum cocktail while sommelier Caroline Styne offers optional wine pairings. The 7 p.m. dinner is $65 per person and an additional $20 for wine pairings. Reservations are required. More information.
