Red Rock Canyon State Park
Best Off-Leash Dog Hike, August 2012
The rules at Red Rock Canyon State Park require dogs to be kept on-leash, but this area has so few hikers, most people untether theirs. Stash the car for free at the intersection of Old Topanga Canyon and Red Rock roads, or pay $5 to park closer to the trail. Head straight up Red Rock for a one-mile climb that rewards you with a view of Stokes Canyon. One more mile, and you’ll reach a knockout vista at the summit of Calabasas Peak Mountain Way. Either route gives your pooch plenty of room to roam without much interference from canines or humans. » 23601 W. Red Rock Rd., Topanga.
