Musch Trail Camp

Best Close-to-the-City Camping, August 2014

If backbreaking treks and remote excursions aren’t your thing, opt for comfort and convenient isolation at Musch Trail Camp. One mile into the lush hills of Topanga State Park, the hideaway—open only on weekends—sees few hikers during the day and even fewer overnight guests, but it has picnic tables, potable water, and flush toilets. At $7 per person (plus $10 for overnight parking), it may be the least expensive way to sleep under the stars.
